8:30 am

This is the earliest I’ve woke in a long while.

I find that the earlier I go to bed, the earlier I rise, and the more energy I have earlier on in the day. When I sleep in, I’m groggy until dusk, then my energy levels pick up… and I stay up late, and the cycle continues.

Yesterday I was pretty productive. Made a dental appointment, faxed my health records to the school, went to the gym (it was amazing!), started to put together my model airplane, read a little, went on an enjoyable bike ride across town… and… thats about it.

Florida is so beautiful. People that don’t live here might be able to disagree… but they’re jaded. They live other places… they can’t truly enjoy the utter beauty of brilliant blue skies, with blazing setting sunsets that light the atmosphere on fire, changing it to deep reds, hot pinks, and blazing oranges. The evenings here are amazing. Perfect temperature too. A slight breeze makes it dreamy.

Anyway- I leave for school in about a week and a half. I need to organize all my belongings and figure out what I’ll need to bring to school. This part is a pain. Its all crammed in boxes.. and I know full and well that I’ll never use half the stuff in those boxes… its just accumulated over time.

We have no food in the house. I need to go grocery shopping.

  1. What part of Florida are you staying in? I’ve been to Orlando, and I loved it. When it would shower the air was sprinkled with drops of gold as the sun lit the rain.
But then I went into “real Florida”, sans the manicured landscapes, attractions, and beautiful trees and my perspective changed quite a bit. It was… sad- those places I went. Maybe I am jaded. I live just out of DC, so I get those beautiful sunsets, rural Virginia just down 95, and culture, history, and good times all within a 15 mile radius. But after seeing entire families packed into a 10×10 trailor with no windows, it’s difficult to like that place.

    1. I live in Jupiter, FL… in Palm Beach County. Its about as close to paradise I’ve found and I’ve lived here for five years. The summers can be a little brutal, high humidity with temperatures ebbing just short of 100 deg. But the fall, winter, and spring is perfect, just hovering around 72 with radiant sunshine all day long.
I think Virginia is gorgeous. I lived up north for a good part of my youth and the past two years of college. Summer is beautiful up north… lush and vivacious. I can’t stand the winters though… the naked trees, gray skies, and harsh weather. I get emotionally affected by all that dreariness.

      1. Maybe some people are just more “sunny” than others. I love the winter. I just love it! I love the pure white of the snow, the stark contrast between the trees, the evergreens, and the icey surfaces, the frostbite (maybe not so much on the latter). It’s just so clean, crisp, and serene. What I like most about this place is that we get all seasons. Fall is absolutely beautiful, especially if you drive out to the mountains. In fact, there’s a tree right across the street from me and from October to late November, one could swear it’s set ablaze. The Springs are wonderful too, second to Fall (which is obviously my favorite) and they actually last for longer than a week!
